Dunbeholden coach Riegel Smith believes his side is getting closer to the light at the end of the tunnel, following their 3-0 win over Reno, which strengthen their chances of surviving their relegation battle in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL).

Dean-Andre Thomas (fourth and 50th) netted a brace, while Demario Phllips (58th) got the other to seal the win

And Smith said the three points are a real boost with three games to go.

"It was definitely a good performance. We know how important this game was for both teams. We started off very good and put the pressure on Reno from the start of the game. We came into the game to put the Reno team under pressure. They are on a bad run and we are on a good run, so we just came here to pressure them," he said.

"These three points are important to us seeing where we are in the table and where Reno is in the table. We sat and met with the guys and they have responded positively to the training, so yes, definitely this win is a boost to the team and community," he added.

Four minutes into the contest, the host went ahead when Thomas scored. He also added the game's second just five minutes after the break when Dunbeholden was awarded a penalty. Phillips then raced through and fired home a low shot into the corner to secure the three points and Smith was encouraged by the display.

"We are satisfied. We came up and scored three goals, we also had a clean sheet and played total football and I'm proud of the team. The focus now is to take each game step by step and try to get three points," he said.
