Molynes could secure RSPL spot today

Molynes United are going into today's Premier League play-off fixture against Faulkland knowing that a win over their opponent would eliminate one of the two teams still in a position to overtake them and high-flying Vere United in the race to qualify for the nation's premier football competition.

An, with that in mind, they plan to play the game like a final.

Wadadah and Faulkland are third and fourth, respectively, in the table on four points, six behind leaders Vere and five adrift of second-place Molynes. Baptist Alliance also have four points but unlike Wadadah and Faulkland, they only have two games remaining and therefore can only get to 10 points, while Wadadah and Faulkland can still get to 13 points if they win their remaining three matches.

But despite their impressive start to the tournament, with three wins from as many games, Molynes coach Lijyasu Simms says he will not be taking their opponent lightly, despite the St James team not looking so impressive in their three matches to date.

"We are just going back to the training ground to get ready to go Montego Bay and play Faulkland," he said after their win over Lime Hall on Sunday. "This is a tournament of champions and we are going to their parish, so they are not going to come and lay down. We will have to go there and play some good football and score some goals because goals win games," he told STAR Sports.

MOVING FORWARD

"We are not going to treat them like the bottom-of-the table team. We are taking it one game at a time. These three points are very important, so come Wednesday, we are really going to put in the work. We are not taking any game lightly, we are treating every team as a threat and that's the plan moving forward," he said.

Simms said his three main starters were out due to injury or suspension on Sunday and he was pleased his team was able to do what they needed to do to get three points, which is always the objective when they take the field.

"The performance (Sunday) was way below par but it was expected because we had three players out, two on cards and one with injury, so it was expected the game wasn't going to be fluent. But we came to get three points and we got three points and each game we are going for three point, nothing less," he said.

Molynes will look to Patrick Shecklude, Ryan Brown, Fabiki Farquharson and Tyrique Wilson to lead them to victory.
