Lawrence to be reminded of JFF code of conduct

General secretary of the Jamaica football Federation (JFF) Dalton Wint said the body is very disappointed by the recent social media post from national defender Kemar 'Taxi' Lawrence. The left back took to social media to air his grouse about a lack of preparation for the Concacaf Gold Cup, and other issues.

However, Wint said the JFF has sent a letter to the player outlining its disappointment and talks are planned with the player to remind him of the JFF's code of conduct.

On his Instagram page on Tuesday, Lawrence said: "Every time we come together to represent our great nation, it's always an issue and the so called leaders that we have don't care, but they want results and trophies. So great people of Jamaica, we need your help because the people in power don't care about our football.

"Every time we come to the national team camp it's the same bulls**t with the federation, and its unacceptable. No respect for players, but we expect them to perform at the highest level with the worst possible preparations."

According to some sources, one of the reason for Lawrence's outburst is the unresolved Gold Cup contractual agreement which is still unsettled between the players and the federation. But Wint said it is not Lawrence's place to put these things in public sphere.

"I don't think Mr Lawrence was in a position to make those utterances," Wint said. "From over a month ago, we have been actively training the local players so they have been training for quite a while now. So I don't know what he means by good preparation, as a matter of fact. So I don't know why he could be saying that.

"We were in (contract) dialogue with them, but they have not come to any finality. But we will make sure as soon as we can, we have to sort out this contractual agreement," he added.

Wint said the current financial constraints on the JFF means they have to spread their money wisely in order to give all their teams a chance of qualification.

"We have sent a letter (to Lawrence) and we expressed to him how disappointed we are at the route he took to air his grouse. We were in the mode of negotiating but we hadn't reached any finality with anything," Wint said. "We will have a discussion with Mr Lawrence as it can't be swept under the carpet, because this is not the way we expect our players to behave."
