Marsh ready to carry Cavalier on his back to the play-offs

Cavalier's captain Chevonne 'Messi' Marsh continues to lead his team's fight for a Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) play-off spot.

On Sunday, Marsh netted his 10th of the season and the opener in Cavalier's 1-1 draw with Harbour View at the Stadium East field.

Norman Campbell secured a point for the Stars of the East with a 35th-minute penalty.

But Marsh, who is popularly called 'Messi', says scoring 10 goals from midfield this season proves his quality. He also believes he is now a serious contender for the golden boot as well.

World beater

"To score 10 goals from midfield is a big thing. If you check the leagues across the world, a midfielder scoring ten goals is a world beater.

"To score 10 goals and be two (goals) behind the top scorer is big. As the season progresses I just want to score more goals and I am aiming to be the top scorer. I am not counting out myself," he said.

Cavalier inched one spot up the table to seventh with 32 points, the same as Tivoli, and two adrift of Arnett Gardens.

But despite Cavalier inconsistency, Marsh believes they are still very much in the running for the top six.

"I am trying my best to help my team go as far as possible. We are not doing so well but there is time to build.

"We just need to continue working on the drawing board and listen to the tactical master Rudolph Speid and go out and execute," he said.
