Embarking on her third trip to Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago's netball captain Shaquanda Greene-Noel is now tasked with the responsibility of leading the twin-island republic to the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa.

The main purpose of this visit is to help her team book one of the two qualifying spots on offer at the ongoing Americas World Cup Qualifiers at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

The 26-year-old defender, who believes the island of Jamaica has a lot of similarities compared to her home town of Trinidad and Tobago, is also a big lover of dancehall and soca music.

"I love it here. I believe Jamaicans are quite close to Trinidadians so it's great to be here. I listen to dancehall and soca music, my favourite dancehall artiste is Vybz Kartel and for soca, it would be Voice," Greene-Noel disclosed.

Quizzed about her favourite songs from each artiste, a laughing Greene-Noel made her proclamation, which was different from her go-to song which she listens to before a match day.

"Vybz Kartel's 'Summer Time' and Voice's 'Trouble', but on match day, it would be Skeng's 'Gvnman Shift', that's my go-to song, to hype me up before I go to the games," said Greene-Noel.

Greene-Noel is also enjoying the sumptuous taste of the island but hopes the spice would be a little less.

"I love it, but I think the food is a little too spicy for my liking. I love the jerk chicken, they (teammates) also tried the curry chicken but it wasn't as good as the one in Trinidad and Tobago, but it was still good. The peas and rice is also fantastic and I love it," said Greene-Noel.

When she's off the netball court, the Trinidad and Tobago captain enjoys running a successful hair business back home called Hair on Q.

"I sell 100 per cent human hair, wigs and bundles. I have a big business back home, so that's my side hustle. November would be three years (in the establishment).

"I love it, it's been a good income so I get to travel over the world, so I'm definitely holding on to my business," Greene-Noel disclosed.
