Arnett’s Johnson enjoying ‘rebirth’

Last season, Arnett Gardens player Ajuma Johnson, known for his ability in midfield, had a spectacular campaign at left back, and despite starting this season in the wide position, he was returned to his original attacking midfield role, which he believes is like being reborn.
"I have to thank Father God for this wonderful day," he said after Arnett Gardens' 2-2 draw with Mount Pleasant in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) first-leg semi-final on Monday.
"I am really enjoying myself. It reminds me of when I was playing Manning Cup. This brings me back in the days, so I am really enjoying myself, and it's wonderful," Johnson said.
Johnson was the provider of both Arnett Gardens' goals in the game. In the 30th minute, his precise cross found Shai Smith, who headed in the first equaliser.
Then three minutes after Mount Pleasant retook the lead in the 63rd minute, he slipped the crucial pass to Fabian Reid to score, tying the game for a second time.
"I have to big up the coaches. They gave us a job, and we came out and did it. It was a tight game, a hard game, and we had to work hard to get back," he said.
The teams will meet again in the second leg on Sunday, and Johnson is looking to continue his good form in the middle of the park.
However, he said there are issues they must work on for the return game.
"It was a fair result, but we made two mistakes and let in two goals, so we have to go back to the drawing board, get it right, and come back again," he commented.
