TWO-TIME champions Dinthill Technical advanced to the final four of the ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup despite going down 2-1 to B.B Coke at STETHS Sports Complex in Santa Cruz yesterday.

Three Group B teams ended with six points and Dinthill with a plus four goal difference topped the group ahead of Garvey Maceo High with a plus three goal difference. B.B. Coke had a minus two goal difference and ended third while Cornwall College finished at the bottom of the group after losing all three quarter-final round matches.

Dinthill will face Glenmuir High in the semi-finals, while Clarendon College will oppose Garvey Maceo.

In yesterday's game at STETHS, Dinthill's Tyrese Gowe, the leading goal scorer for his team with 20 goals, created a chance shortly after kick-off but his shot was deflected by goalkeeper Daniel Harris.

B.B. Coke's Enrique Powell then opened the scoring in the sixth minute when he took advantage of a goalkeeping error. Then early in the second half, 57th minute, Sanjay Allen extended their lead when he beat the Dinthill goalkeeper with a curling shot. Raheem Harris scored Dinthill's consolation goal in the 81st minute.

According to Dinthill's head coach Oneil Thomas, the semi-finals will be better for his team.

"For the next round, our plan is to sort out the little issues that we have. We need to straighten it up and get back to the way we were playing in the early rounds. I think B.B. Coke wanted it more than us today. They played well and scored two goals," Thomas said.

Kemar Ricketts, head coach of B.B Coke, said his team gave their best shot.

"It is unfortunate that we lost a player in the latter part of the game, but I think the guys played with effort, and I commend them. We fell short on goal difference but we gave our best. It has been a brilliant season. We had one hiccup against Garvey Maceo, and we couldn't do much because some of the boys came down with dengue fever. However, we came out and we still have it a good try. We are now looking forward to playing for the Ben Francis Cup," Ricketts said.
