Reggae Boyz captain Andre Blake is aiming to win both the Copa America and Nations League competitions next year and write Jamaica's name in the football history books.

While admitting it's a tough and ambitious task, Blake said it's only right to believe in the best for his team.

"That's the standard that we have to set for ourselves. We always want to be able to go all the way in all the competitions that we are a part of," he said.

After defeating Canada in the Nations League quarter-finals with a 4-4 goal aggregate, Jamaica being awarded winners based on the away goals rule, the island's team advanced to the semi-finals and qualified for the very competitive Copa America.

" We really wanted to make it to this tournament. It's a big deal, it's bigger than the Gold Cup for sure because you're playing with the giants from South America," Blake who saved a number of shots during the match said.

Jamaica have been drawn in Group B alongside Concacaf giants Mexico, Venezuela and Ecuador for the Copa America tournament.

The Copa America is set for next summer but before that tournament, Jamaica will meet the USA in the Nations League semi-finals, in March 2024 and Blake is looking forward to a busy season with the national team.

"It's going to be a busy year, we have Nation's league semi-finals, we have Copa America and World Cup Qualifiers get going as well," he noted. "It's good because we are a really good group of guys so the more time we get to together to play these tournaments I think only good things can come from it," Blake said.

He said he is trusting Reggae Boyz head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson to help them win as many games as possible.

"He's a good coach and has come in and is doing his thing and we're just excited to see how everything will play out. Still a lot of work to do, but he's definitely on the right track and we have to support him and, hopefully, together we can move forward," Blake said.

While he's looking forward to the team performing at their best, he said he's also hoping for increased support from Jamaican fans.

"The support is necessary when we go to these places and play, even in Canada recently. It makes the difference. We just have to keep doing our part and keep winning games and, hopefully, sooner than later, the fans will start to come out," said Blake.
