Defending champions Mount Pleasant ended their two-game losing streak in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League (JPL), defeating Treasure Beach FC 2-0 at STETHS Sports Complex in St Elizabeth on Thursday.

Mount Pleasant sit tall on 22 points atop the points standing after winning seven games while conceding six goals. Losing 4-1 to Waterhouse on Monday, Treasure Beach are on a two-game losing streak with seven points and are 12th in standing.

Head coach of Mount Pleasant, Theodore Whitmore, believes that not conceding was a positive.

"It feels good winning and being on top of the table, but we must be wary of complacency. The mindset is always positive despite the result of the game. We know what to do, and this game we delivered.

"Apart from the final third this afternoon, especially, our decision-making in the first half, I think we lacked presence in midfield as well. We know Treasure Beach are physical and hit a lot of long balls. We prepared for that, and I think the guys dealt with that well," Whitmore said.

He added: "For our next game, we have to assess this one, before we move on to the next one."

In the meantime, Fitzroy Ambursley, assistant coach of Treasure Beach, believes his players did well.

"I see positives in the team today. The boys stood up against a tough team. There was a plan, and the plan was working until the two goals were conceded. It was highly intense in the first half. We stood up thoroughly against a strong team," Ambursley said.

In the perfect weather, Mount Pleasant's Atapharoy Bygrave opened the scoring with a penalty in the 75th minute. Marlon Allen scored the second goal in added time.
