OLYMPIC champion Elaine Thompson Herah could find herself in a race against time to be ready for the National Track and Field Champions set for June 27-30 at the National Stadium.

Thompson Herah limped off the track with an injury after finishing at the back of the field in the women's 100 metres at the World Continental Gold New York City Grand Prix meet at the Icahn Stadium yesterday. She got a good start and was with the pack early but struggled from 50 metres out and eased just before the line to finish in 11.48 seconds.

At the end it was obvious that Thompson Herah was in pain as she took off one foot of her running shoes immediately and limped away before being carried off the track by two of her handlers.

Nigeria's Favour Ofili won the event in 11.18 ahead of the US pair of Morolake Akinosun (11.20) and Aleia Hobbs (11.21).

Overall, Jamaican athletes found the going tough at the meet and Rasheed Broadbell, Carey McLeod, Jordan Scott, Stacey Ann Williams and Kimberly Williamson were the only ones to finish in the top three of their events.

Broadbell was second in the 110m hurdles in 13.29, behind American Trey Cunningham who won in 13.21. Tyler Mason ended fourth in 13.52.

McLeod was second in the men's long jump with 7.97m as Marquis Denby of the United states won with a season's best 8.07m. Scott did 16.92m for his second-place finish in the triple jump just behind Donald Scott of the United States with 16.94m.

Williamson was third in the women's high jump after clearing 1.84m. American Vashti Cunningham won with a clearance of 1.95m.

Danielle Williams and Kadrian Goldson had fourth-place finishes in their events. World 100m hurdles champion Williams clocked 12.71 behind winner Devynne Charlton (12.56).

Goldson clocked 10.30 in the men's 100m with Sandrey Davison placing sixth in 10.32. Udodi Onwuzurike of Nigeria won in 10.24, ahead of Kendal Williams (10.26) of the United States.

American Sydney McLaughlin -Levrone won the 400m in a world leading 48.75 to unseat Jamaica's Nickisha Pryce's one day world lead of 48.89. Jamaica's Stacey Ann Williams was third in 50.94 while Junelle Bromfield was seventh in 52.32.
