Jamaica close in on World Cup - U17 Boyz hammer Cayman Islands 10-1
It was cruise control for the Under-17 Reggae Boyz as they battered the Cayman Islands 10-1 yesterday to continue their perfect record in Group H of the Concacaf Men's World Cup Qualifiers.
The Boyz made it two wins from as many games, following their 3-1 win against St Lucia on Monday and now sit on the cusp of qualifying for the 2025 FIFA Men's Under-17 World Cup Finals in Qatar in November, as they lead the group with a perfect six points.
The group winner is guaranteed automatic qualification to the World Cup Finals.
El Salvador are also perfect and sit on six points after blanking St Lucia 2-0 in their second game last night. Both games were played at the Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala, where the Group H Qualifiers are taking place.
Even though both teams have six points, Jamaica lead the group by virtue of a superior goal difference, having scored 13 goals and conceding two for a plus-11 aggregate.
El Salvador, who hammered the Cayman Islands 8-0 in their opening match, have a plus-10 goal difference.
With a superior goal difference, the Jamaicans need a draw in their decisive clash against El Salvador, on Saturday at 8 p.m., to advance to the World Cup.

Jamaica's prolific striker, Seymour Reid, would then add his name to the scoresheet, netting a four-minute brace to see Jamaica ending the first half five goals clear.
His first came in the 40th minute when he dribbled past four markers to lash home an effort from close range and then in the 44th minute, he finished off a team goal.
