Couples must communicate

Dear Pastor,

I think a couple should have a mild, gentle hard talk with each other to find out what is causing one spouse to reject the other and discuss ways in which they can enjoy each other's company again.

Dear Unknown,

I have said on many occasions and I repeat it now, that no relationship is perfect. Even when people tell me how wonderful their relationships are, I listen and encourage them to keep going.

But I know that their relationship is not perfect as they say.

Remember what granny says, that "teeth and tongue must meet." That is to say, in every relationship there will be disagreements.

A man once told me that he and his wife were married for 25 years and they never had a disagreement. And I said to myself, how boring that relationship is.

A married woman should be able to say to her spouse, "Honey, I disagree with you"; and a husband should be able to say the same.

But they don't have to curse each other. It can be said with respect for each other.
