Think my girlfriend is too comfortable with other guys

Dear Pastor,

I am 18 years old and I have a girlfriend who is also 18. She is very popular with the guys.

Whenever I talk to her about that, she tells me that I am too jealous and I am the one she loves. This girl likes all sports; she plays football and she tries her hand in cricket. My problem is that although she says she loves me, I am not sure about that. Her father is a prominent man in society. I respect him. She told him that I am the only guy in the school that she likes.

One day after school was dismissed, he came to pick her up and she introduced me to him and he said he was glad to meet me because his daughter spoke highly of me. He told me that one day he would ask his daughter to invite me to the house so that we can have a talk. I felt very happy and I told him that I would be glad to visit the house. But I am still not sure that I am this girl's favourite because she is so popular and attractive. That very evening when her father suggested that I could come to the house, she called me and I asked her what her father thought about me. She said her father said I appeared to be nervous. I was indeed nervous, but I was happy to meet her father.

She told me that a Sunday evening would be the best time to visit the home. I told her that she should let me know. Her mother is always travelling, so it would have to be a time when her mother was in Jamaica. This girl has never talked to me about sex. But I do not believe that a girl who is so popular with the guys is still a virgin. Do you think that I am right or wrong? Some of these guys are always talking about sex and they want to try out all the girls at school. Do you think she will tell me the truth about that? How can I be sure that she loves me more than the others? Should I just take her word for it?

You will have to take this girl's word and time will tell whether she loves you more than the other guys.

A girl might be popular, but being popular does not mean that she is giving her body to Tom, Dick or Harry. After you have got to know her well, you should be able to determine whether you are indeed special in her life. It is not every man who knocks at a woman's door will get her to open up to him. Accept the invitation from her father and when you go to his house, behave as a gentleman and speak the truth.
