Singing amongst friends was a popular pastime for Nyjel Wilson until eight years ago when he decided to venture into the art professionally. Going by the stage name Imaahki, the artiste first gained exposure in 2008 on Digicel Rising Stars.

Having recorded his first single, titled Now You Are, in 2012 for Gold Mine Production, Imaahki has been steadily building a catalogue of songs.

Inspired by several local and overseas artistes, Imaahki, however, credits his style to Beres Hammond, Burt Bacharach and Gnarls Barkley.

"My aim is to collect a Grammy Award someday. I want my music to live forever, so I always ensure that my songs are properly constructed," Imaahki said.

He has now established his own record label and has since recorded two songs, titled Far From Me and Try Me Love.

"Both songs are doing well and getting played on the airwaves. I also shot a video for Far From Me, which has been featured on several local television stations. I've been getting a lot of love from female fans, and several well-known producers have also contacted me to voice for them," he said.

He is also gearing up for his first tour this summer as well as several local performances in the upcoming week.

"I'm just working on a number of tracks as I put in the work to gain the recognition and earn my spot in reggae music. I have over two unrecorded albums just waiting for the right producers to take an interest," he stated.
