Since being crowned Magnum King... Deep Jahi working overtime

Since being crowned Magnum King ...

Deep Jahi was a favourite in the 2012 edition of the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition, so when he walked away with the crown that year, the win came as no surprise.

With his undeniable talent, many expected him to burst on to the music scene and become a household name almost immediately.

It took him some time but the entertainer is now enjoying some success in the industry.

"I have been working assiduously in the studio since my Magnum win. I have been working with a number of producers on several projects," Deep Jahi said in a recent interview with THE WEEKEND STAR.

"I have been building my repertoire as an artiste and I am working on becoming that household name."

Deep Jahi said the Magnum King and Queen competition helped him a lot in terms of getting his foot through the entertainment doors but it was up to him to see how far he was able to go.

"After emerging the winner I gained a lot of popularity. I was now known throughout Jamaica," he said.

"I had a platform and it was now up to me to work towards growing and developing my brand."

The entertainer has been reaping much success, courtesy of a well known singles such as Life Goes On, Another Try, Nuh Punching Back and, most recently, Greatness, has been enjoying heavy rotation on local airwaves since released in April.

Deep Jahi is off the island working on an EP with Weedy G Soundforce, an international label out of Switzerland.

Tight-lipped about the details of the project, Deep Jahi said fans should anticipate great music. The artiste also said shows have been coming in steadily. he is almost fully booked for June and July.

Deep Jahi is not signed to a label but explained that there are a interested parties.

"I have different parties interested in signing me but I'm sifting through the thing thoroughly and getting my lawyer on those contracts before contemplating a deal," he said.

"I am unsigned right now but I am as focused as ever. I have a few collaborations in the making, also, but I can't mention their names until everything is confirmed."
