After a scintillating performance at Groovin in the Park, which saw her belting out hits including 'Lifeline', 'Tumbling' 'Down' and 'Bridge over Troubled Water', artiste Tessanne Chin was presented with a USA Congressional Proclamation from the office of Yvette Clarke, 11th Congressional District, New York.

The presentation was made by former Brooklyn Councilwoman Una Clarke.

Tessanne, the Season Five winner of NBC's The Voice competition, could hardly contain her surprise as tears of joy streamed down her face.

"I couldn't never have done this without you. I continue on with my career because of your encouragement and support. I appreciate it," Tessanne told the audience.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR after the event, Tessanne stated that it was an honour to be chosen.

"It was an incredible honour and surprise to have been presented with a proclamation. I am extremely touched and proud to have received this, not to mention very grateful to Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke and everyone involved whose love and support never fail to amaze me."

Toots Hibbert, who was scheduled to perform at the Groovin in the Park festival three years ago, but had to miss it due to an injury he received, also received a proclamation.

"I'm very honoured. I appreciate it," Toots told the audience.

Before receiving the proclamation, Toots thrilled the crowd with hits such as Bam Bam, Pressure Drop, Sweet an Dandy and Take Me Home, Country Roads.

The event also featured performances from Beres Hammond, Brian McKnight, Duane Stephenson, Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle.
