Ikaya defends females in 'Sexy Badness'

Ikaya is turning it up a notch in her latest release, 'Sexy Badness'. The track, which is produced by Triple 'L' Records, is clear in highlighting that a sexy woman should not be mistaken for a pushover.

"Sexy Badness is about knowing you're sexy and you're bad with it. It's about feminine power and defending our rights as women. I am really grateful for the love it has been receiving so far," the singer told THE STAR.

Although the song is raunchy, Ikaya drew inspiration from the influx of crimes committed against women over the past two years in Jamaica.

"You already know that men tend to think that women are defenceless and easy to push over. You nuh see how the man dem wicked against di woman dem lately?" she asked.

"We just letting the man dem know they need to fix up dem act or we a go counteract. We are tired of the disrespect and the abuse. Too many of our women are being killed and raped. Even little girls are being targeted. We nah tek no more, that's all I'm saying."

She, however, stressed that this is not a 'new Ikaya'. Instead, she said it is an "Ikaya without a filter."

"I've always been on the edge, but with this song I just had to let it all out and get right to the point," she said.

"Am I supposed to be boxed in with my expression and views? We should use our sexiness to our advantage. Anything a man can do, we can do it sexier. The power is within a woman, and we can be very revengeful if we want to. Hell has no fury like a woman scorned."

Sexy Badness is currently available on YouTube, with plans under way for the track to be available on all digital platforms.

"The fans have been asking for that 'cause we've been getting great feedback from this single," she said. "As it relates to doing a video, of course I have to. I've had several directors hitting me up saying they want to be the one shooting the video, and even fans who also seh dem haffi inna dah video yah."

Sexy Badness aside, the Leave You Alone singer shared she is also working on new projects which she is excited about.
