Prodigal Son’s ‘Pure Gold’ named Gospel Album of the Year - Gospel artiste dedicates win to fans and producer Danny Browne

Prodigal Son is now celebrating the success of his album, 'Pure Gold', which was named the Album of the Year for 2018 at the recent Sterling Gospel Music Awards.

The 18-track album was officially launched in October 2017 at the star-studded Prodigal and Friends concert that also marked the artiste's 18th year in the business.

The album also shares another win with Guyanese gospel artiste Saiku for the Video of the Year category for the single Light It Up.

However, due to the artiste's prior commitment, he was unable to make it to the awards ceremony that was held at the Knutsford Court Hotel last Saturday.

"There is no limit where I plan to go with the success of the album. For one, I never stop writing or recording, and now I am in the States doing what needs to be done to make it possible," said Prodigal Son, who is now on tour in the United States.

The artiste/ordained pastor also dedicated the win to the album's producer, Danny Browne, and his supporters.

"It's always good to win, but more than anything else, I want to give it to the people that has made the win possible, the supporters, because I don't call them fans; and Danny Browne, because he led everything in the studio, and I believe him outdo himself with the production," the artiste said.

"A special thanks also goes out to the organisers of the Sterling Gospel Music Awards, and congratulations to Saiku as well."

The Still Standing singer said that the album, which is the sixth in his catalogue, has been doing remarkably well, even though he has not followed its rank on the gospel music charts due to a busy schedule focused on promoting the music and spreading God's message. Jesus Bigger, featuring Jason Mighty, which is also on the album, emerged at number one on various gospel music charts.

"I [have] been on the road since October of last year when the tour 'Celebrating 20 Years' kick-started. It's been a long run, but you never know what is coming. It might be a book, a film or even a church," he said.

Prodigal Son's tour ends in August. Following the CEO Substance Conference, hosted by Pastor Michael Basdeo at the Christ Tabernacle Church in Bronx on Saturday, March 23 (where Browne is featured as a guest speaker), the gospel artiste will return to the Caribbean to perform in Nevis and Barbados. However, he was uncertain when Jamaica would see his face. He will also celebrate his birthday in Queens, New York, on June 7.
