For the third time, recording artistes Delomar and Renigade of RDX are rejoicing over the support their music has harvested from international acts.

American actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish, and Bajan-superstar Rihanna have in the past shared videos of them dancing - serving as added promotion to the global market.

"It is seen bigger than just them having fun to high-energy music - it is a compliment for dancehall - what it means for dancehall is that it is going to a wider audience, drawing more ears to the culture, which is definitely a plus."

Delomar continued: "And that audience is often not necessarily in tune to dancehall and will get to see the positive side of it."

Still, the negatives are not easy to avoid, as even with their recent social media stamp of approval from international rapper Snoop Dogg, critics were questioning the wild behaviour promoted in the music video for Set Good.

Dance stunts

The video comes amid the debates about dance stunts and the risks sparked by the passing of dancer Bumpa, of the Gladiator Girls from Montego Bay.

A section of the video for Set Good was reposted on Snoop Dogg's Instagram page and within a few hours, more than a million views were garnered.

"It felt good waking up to see that the Instagram post of our music video by someone I consider an idol was on fire, especially when we pride ourselves in doing quality music females can enjoy. It also shows entertainers from other genres are getting a fair dose of our culture and enjoying it. We can only use this support to make better for the future of dancehall," he said.

But the burden of how dancers in Jamaica conduct stunts during street dances is heavy, as persons continue to chastise them in the music video.

Renigade expressed, "The video features several top Jamaican dancers performing stunts with their partners. We appreciate and have supported dancers from the inception of our careers, so what happened to Bumpa was indeed a tragedy. However, in our shooting of the music video, we had the dancers work with other dancers that they are familiar with. They know the stunts well and they rehearsed."

The artistes also urged all dancers to be safe and responsible.

Along with the success of Set Good, of which the official music video is nearing one million views on YouTube, RDX has released the singles Socks & Slippers, produced by Blaqk Sheep, and Pro Box, produced by Louie V.

Both singles have also inspired fans from Europe to Africa to submit videos moving to the tunes.
