Although dancehall artiste Power Man has been residing in the US for more than a decade, he has not lost touch with his Jamaican roots.

"No matter where I live, Jamaica will always hold a special place in my heart because it's the place where I was born and raised. Anywhere in the world I go, I always represent Jamaica, whether I am on or off the stage. I have a house in Red Hills, in Kingston, so I visit the island frequently to chill out with my family members and friends who are living there," said the veteran dancehall star.

Although some music industry insiders believe that the traditional dancehall genre is no longer viable, Power Man is still recording and performing.

"I don't know why anyone would believe that dancehall music is dead. Authentic dancehall and reggae music cannot die. I'm still getting calls for shows and dubplates," he said. Power Man is currently promoting a new single titled Tribute To Jamaica, which was produced by Edgar Parish.

"The inspiration to write this song came to me in a time of deep meditation and reflection on the things I experienced when I used to live in Jamaica. It is such a beautiful place; Jamaica has some of the nicest beaches and waterfalls. It also has a rich heritage and vibrant culture. I love my country."

He continued, "This song is an open invitation to anyone who hasn't been to Jamaica to go and check it out. Don't pay any attention to the negative travel advisories; Jamaica is paradise. I'm also hoping that the Jamaica Tourist Board will endorse this song and use it in one of their promotional campaigns."

Power Man is currently working on several new projects, including an album titled Tribute To Jamaica for Parish Records, and a one-drop album titled Kill A Sound Boy. Both albums are slated to be released later this year.
