Fast-rising pop-reggae singer J'Calm is still revelling in excitement after securing a recent collaboration with international reggae/dancehall artiste Sean Paul for his single, Call My Name. This follows another successful moment, where the 19-year-old's debut single, Tempted, made Barack Obama's summer playlist last year.

In an interview with THE STAR, the singer revealed that the Call My Name remix with Sean Paul was an "unexpected destiny" as he literally saw an opportunity presented itself and boldly capitalised on it.

"Working with Sean - it was unexpected. Even when I was in the room with him [and] my assistant manager, and I was like 'A Sean dat, enuh, mi inna di room wid Sean, bro,' he recalled his star struck moment with a laugh.

"I would never imagine a day like dis so it was really unexpected and he's really a cool guy in person - it was a cool vibe, we had a lot of fun and you learn a lot about the industry just being around him," shared J'Calm.

He recounted how the partnership came about.

"I went to this event called IMC [Island Music Conference in Kingston] and there were a lot of persons in the industry there, and I saw Sean - he was just standing right in front of me. And I'm like, 'Okay, I need to talk to him'. There was this huge crowd, stopping and taking pictures and I was there [telling myself] to just to try something'. Funny enough, he already knew about me so it was just like God's timing. We met there and connected on IG and we started corresponding from there," he added.

The Call My Name remix was recently teased on the singer's IG page. It attracted almost 70,000 likes and more than 6,000 comments with mainly positive reviews and words of encouragement. The collaborative single is set to be officially released by the end of June.

Just months ago, the viral music sensation secured another major partnership where his dancehall/reggae track, Easy, on established producer NotNice, Street Vybz 2.0 riddim, became one of the most popular song on the revamped riddim, racking up millions of views on TikTok and YouTube.

Meanwhile, the Glenmuir High School past student confessed that the path on which he has embarked is not the one his grandma envisioned while growing up in the cool, scenic and breezy hills of Chapelton, Clarendon

"... She wanted me to focus on my schoolwork and I was, but I was also obsessed with music, so it just kinda push me to be more motivated to say, 'This has to work then," said the fast-rising artiste.

J'Calm is set to embark on a US tour by the end of this year, as his main aim is to be one of the "most influential pop-reggae artiste outside of Jamaica".
