Dancehall artiste Ijahmar is hoping that his latest song, Shooting Stars, can inspire the youth to overcome personal obstacles and pursue their dreams.

"Every youth is a shooting star; once you believe in yourself, anything is possible. The youth need to understand that everything starts with you, you have to find that inner talent, and then success, progress and upliftment will be added after. Once you find the love for a vocation, or find your true purpose, that is the only way to become a shooting star," he said.

The song was released on the One Hundred Degrees Records and Chase Mills Records labels. He plans to release a video for the project this month. Ijahmar said that he has witnessed the natural phenomenon of shooting stars several times over the Kingston cityscape after dark.

"I remember when I was a child, living out by Rockfort, more time we deh pon the hill outta east and a look across to the airport and we see shooting stars. Just sudden, we see something flash inna the sky and it gives you a feeling of awe and wonder. A the same vibration with music. It's mystical, anything can happen at any time. Just do the work and believe in what you're doing," he said.

Shooting stars are actually what astronomers call meteors, small pieces of rock or dust that hit Earth's atmosphere from space. They move so fast that they heat up and glow as they move through the atmosphere.

Born Ijahmar Robertson, the artiste grew up in Rockfort and was educated at the Norman Garden Primary and Junior High School. He later attended Edith Dalton James High School, where he discovered a love for music and started building his talent by the age of 15.

Earlier this year, he racked up 12,000 views on visuals with his previous release, Polo.
