Tashina Muzik drops EP
Dancehall fusion artiste Tashina Muzik is ecstatic about the early feedback to her latest EP, ' Queen of Hearts', which was released on all digital platforms last Friday.
"This album is about love - the highs and lows of love. It's really a love story; about me being vulnerable, about me celebrating love, about me, about love. It's just a whole story about my whole love life in music. I am the 'queen of hearts'," Tashina Muzik said, laughing.
The 12-track EP features songs such as the R&B-influenced Sorry Not Sorry, the contemplative If She, as well as new collaborations such as Reach, featuring Gyptian, and Need You, featuring Teejay. The EP includes her biggest hits, Cherish the Moment, which has racked up more than a million streams on Spotify, and Best Eva. Both are previously released singles featuring Vybz Kartel.
"It's not just a dancehall EP. Queen of Hearts is about me being a 'big lover girl'. And that's why we experimented with different genres to heighten the feelings of compassion, tenderness and feminine sexual energy. Each track conveys the emotions that I am wrestling with at that particular time, so it's like a snapshot of my emotional state of mind," she said.
Tashina Muzik has earned the respect for her peers for her musical abilities and unique style of music. She has consistently shown her capacity to deliver on hardcore dancehall instrumentals or caress the soothing basslines of reggae beats with equal skill.
"I just want to make my mark and stand out, and also to carry on the music of our nation to international spaces," she added.
