Talia Soares realises childhood dream

If you watch entertainment programmes on TV, then you probably know her. She is always reminding you to "keep living intense".

Meet Talia Soares.

What she tells you to do each week is exactly what she has been doing - working and studying intensely, to pursue her goal of becoming a lawyer.

On Wednesday, December 16, the verdict was reached and the register was signed and Soares, 23, officially became an attorney.

"Becoming a lawyer was one of my goals growing up. When I was much younger, I used to go to court with my grandma and to her attorney's office all the time, so it was one of the things I wanted to become."

One can just imagine the joy that comes with being able to see a childhood dream become reality.

"Wow! It was a lot of work. I am very, very happy. I'm proud," an excited Soares told the STAR.

Of course, it is not unbelievable that Soares' pursuit of attorney status came with a lot of work. When the vibrant TV host is not in studio recording Intense, she is on the road covering parties and other events. But even then, the books were never ignored.

"I carry my books with me on the road at times," Soares explained.

"I had to fly out one time and everybody else on the plane was sleeping except me. At like two or three o'clock in the morning, I'm writing out stuff and everybody else knock out and I'm there working. Persons came to me and told me I needed to sleep or my eyes would look puffy on camera, but I had to do what I had to do," she added.

Soares said being called to the bar will not take away from her other passions - entertainment and media.

"I have an interest in intellectual property, entertainment and media because I'm already a part of it. If you look back in my sixth-form yearbook, for my ambition, I wrote attorney-at-law, broadcaster and entrepreneur. So I would definitely practise (law) in entertainment and media," she said.

Being able to practise law while working in the media would definitely be the best of both worlds for Soares. In fact, in her case, it could be the best of everything in a sixth-form yearbook, since Soares still has her eyes on operating her own business.

"I don't find the business part yet, but it is coming. It is coming soon, maybe the next time you hear from me," she said between laughs.
