Nezlene Denton and Doneon Martin will always remember Sunday, September 4, 2016.

It was the day on which the young parents took their baby daughter Danielle to the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God in Clarendon to be christened.

With young father Doneon holding his son, and young mother Nezlene and others standing with them in support, the two parents listened attentively to every word of instruction given by Bishop Donald Dawson, who presided over the sacred ceremony.

Bishop Dawson told the parents in the presence of scores of worshippers that they should train up their daughter in the way she should go so that when she gets old she will not depart from it. The pastor said that the family is a divine institution which is ordained and honoured of the Lord since the beginning of time; and that children are a heritage of the Lord, given to parents for their care, protection and training for His glory.

RESPONSIBILITY

"Every parent needs to recognise this obligation and solemn responsibility to both God and the child in this matter. You need to recognise the sacredness of your charge and with all sincerity accept your responsibility for the nurture and admonition of your son in the way of righteousness and godliness," instructed Bishop Dawson.

Dawson instructed the parents to provide a Christian home and a godly environment for Danielle, see to it that as soon as she is able to learn the Christian faith and the nature of the Christian life, that she is trained to give reverent attendance to the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, and is led to the love of God and the service of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The parents pledged to bring up Danielle in the fear of the Lord, lead her early to Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour, and set before her examples of a godly and consistent life.

Dawson, in his prayer for the baby girl, called on God to allow the anointing of the Holy Ghost to rest upon her, rest upon the house in which she is living, cover her under the blood of Jesus, and shield her from every harm and danger from the hands of Satan.

"We bind up the dragon and tell him that you cannot touch this one; you cannot have dominion over this child's life, because we dedicate her to the glory of God. and Father, we ask you that you will provide for the mother and the father so that they will be able to provide for this child. We ask you, Lord, that you will bless her and allow every organ in her body to function in the way they should. We bind up sickness and diseases; we bind up every generation curse that might be passed on," prayed Dawson.

Little Danielle Martin was born at the Mandeville Regional Hospital in Manchester on June 24, 2016. She was the sixth baby to be christened at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church since the start of this year. Last year, nine babies were christened.
