Steadfast prayer heals the sick
"Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord" (James 5:14).
That was exactly what was done when Pastor Shirley-Ann Chong was called to pray for a woman who had one side of her body crippled.
Chong, who is the senior pastor for the Oakridge United Prayer and Deliverance Ministries in St Andrew, testified that she was called by one of her sons to pray for a friend's mother, who got a stroke.
"Her entire head and mouth were almost behind her, and one side of her was crippled. He told me that I had to come quickly," shared Chong.
The senior pastor went on to testify that she heard the Holy Ghost instructing her not to move, then she heard Him say, "after three days".
"They took the lady from the house into the hospital and I prayed for her from where I was. One day, I instructed the woman's daughter to take a piece of her mother's garment for me to pray over it because I could not go to her yet. She brought her mother's garment to a prayer meeting one Friday night. We prayed over it and then sent it back to her," said Chong.
The woman of prayer said when the woman started to wear the garment, there was some improvement in her condition, and she was taken back home from the hospital.
She noted that although she wanted to visit the home she was unable to do so because three days had not passed.
CONSECRATION
"After the three days had passed, I asked three of the sisters of the church to accompany me to the house, following Sunday service. I had a prayer shawl at my house and the Lord instructed me to consecrate it (prayer shawl) and sent it to her, ahead of my going there. I did that and then turned up at the house the Sunday evening," testified Chong.
She said when she got there, she saw the woman's head was going back into place.
Chong said when she went into the house to pray, the Lord told her to lay prostrate on the ground and give Him thanks because the illness was designed to kill the woman.
"I did that and asked her if I could lay on her floor. I did that and then prayed for her. The Lord then instructed me to lead her into the sinners' prayer. I did that and then found out that she was a backslider. I prayed for her and asked God for His perfect will to be done," noted the pastor.
She said two days after the illness got worse. She noted that the woman cried out to the Lord and told Him that she was coming back to Him.
The pastor reported that the woman told her that when she cried out, she felt like a new body came into hers.
"Her entire body then came back into shape and her face came back in order. The stroke was gone and everything came back in order. Her daughter got saved because of that, and her entire family surrendered their lives to God one by one," said Chong.
Chong said the woman is now a powerful witness for the Lord, as she goes all over the place telling others about the greatness and goodness of God.
