Trailer driver wanted

January 21, 2016

Trailer drivers! Listen up. Drive into a new job this year with a fruitful job prospect on the horizon.

THE STAR, in one of its Jobs on the Go features, has yet again sought to make a match between employers and jobseekers. After searching the Gleaner Classifieds for job postings, our news team caught up with the administrators of the Kingston-based Orandy Moving and Storage Company Limited, who called for "a professional trailer driver with at least five years safe trailer driving experience".

The original advert went on to question whether or not the potential candidate possesses "sales/invoicing experience and a clean police record" offering a full-time opening at the entity.

"The main thing that we are looking for is that there is an age limit for insurance purposes, 25-55," said the female administrator. "We need them to have a clean police record so as to be able to go on to the ports."

In the proprietor's estimation, it is not particularly important for someone to possess passes at the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) level or otherwise; however, she did stress that proficiency in mathematics is of great importance.

"Basically, this person needs to be proficient in maths, because the person needs to be able to do invoicing," she explained. "At the minimum, the person should be a high school graduate. The subjects are not the most important part as long as the proficiency in maths is there, and the person knows how to read and write properly."

According to the administrator, being circumspect and rational will go a long way in impressing the company's team.

"We are seeking someone who is professional, mature, stable and level-

headed," the administrator said. "We need someone who is flexible and versatile. We operate throughout the entire island, and so we don't want someone who is tied to Kingston and cannot cross parish lines."
