Shoemakers needed - St Andrew-based company seeks interested people

You have garnered the skills of a shoemaker whether at the Heart Trust Foundation or from an old pal who wanted to pass on the fancied 19th century profession onto this generation.

Well The Heel Bar Limited, which has several locations in St Andrew, is ready to use your skills. The successful applicant could earn up to $80,000 per month. The tasks ranges from replacing a tip of women's shoes to full sole repair, whether rubber or leather.

Operator of Heel Bar Limited, Maria Jones, told The Star that the demand for shoe repair is high. "The demand continues. We have people who come just to replace the tip of a woman's shoe or the lift of men's shoes to full sole repair," Jones said.

She further explained that they are looking for individuals who have a wide range of skills to facilitate their demands. "They will be required to do stitching and gluing for full sole repair, whether it be rubber soles or leather soles," Jones explained.

Jones also mentioned that she would prefer persons with three years work experience in repairing shoes, but would also accept those with rudimentary skills as the job pays according to one's experience.

"The salary that I pay to them depends on the depth of their experience. For trainee it would be about half of that, which is $40,000 a month," Jones said.

According to Jones, the successful applicant will work from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
