Man fined for assaulting another
A man accused of kicking and punching another was fined when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last week.
Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Markland Green who pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Allegations are that on October 3, the accused man reportedly had a dispute with the male complainant. It is alleged that the accused man punched and kicked the male complainant all over his body.
In court, Green said that he happened to be working at the time when the complainant reportedly made some disparaging remarks, using expletives, much to his dismay.
Green shed some light on the matter.
"Me and the gentleman have a little dispute," he began.
"Me walk up to him and draw down him cap."
It was after that initial contact that the assault on the complainant reportedly took place.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey subsequently ordered Green to pay a fine of $5,000 or serve six months in prison. A fingerprint order was also made against him.
