Police make breakthrough in boxer's murder

The Atlanta police have made a breakthrough in the murder of former Jamaican boxing champion O'Neil Bell after obtaining a photo of a suspect and surveillance footage of an apparent get away vehicle.

The 40-year-old cruiserweight boxer's life ended early Wednesday in southwest Atlanta after he was gunned down by a pair of robbers who left him in the middle of the road.

According to www.ajc.com Atlanta police said robbery appeared to be a motive in the fatal shooting and authorities are seeking the public's help in finding Bell's killers.

THE WEEKEND STAR gathered that investigators theorise that four males may be involved in the shooting.

They are also looking for a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser with the Georgia tag TJC685, which was stolen on Tuesday.

The police released a video of the vehicle and an image of a person seen by witnesses exiting it.

Reports are that Bell and another man got off a MARTA bus shortly after midnight when the incident occurred. Police found Bell dead in the street with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Bell held the WBA, WBC and IBF cruiserweight boxing titles, amassing a record of 26 wins, three losses and one draw during a 13-year career that ended in 2011.

Initially fighting under the moniker 'Give 'Em Hell Bell', he later changed his nickname to 'Supernova'.
