Man remanded for killing employer

A man accused of murdering his former employer as a result of 'ignorance' was further remanded until January 18, 2016, in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

Charged with murder is Anthony Kinghorn, 61, of Daikens District, Mount James in St Andrew.

Allegations are that on August 25 at approximately 8 p.m., the woman was at her farm, when she was attacked and chopped to death. Fire was also set to Kinghorn's house and he fled the area.

It is said that the deceased, who was a British citizen, returned to Jamaica and started a farm, which mainly cultivated coffee. On the day of the incident, the woman went to conduct business in the Corporate Area and returned sometime after 6 p.m., during which time she got into an argument with Kinghorn.

The argument was as a result of unfinished work, which she had entrusted to him. The argument reportedly lasted for a while. Kinghorn is said to have left for a brief moment to retrieve a machete.

It is said that he later reported the incident to a trusted friend. Citizens soon got word of the alleged happening, went in search of the woman and discovered the deceased's body and alerted the police.

The accused man was arrested during a police operation in Denham Town on September 7. When cautioned, he said: "Officer, a just ignorance make mi kill her. Mi nah go round yuh."
