Woman stabbed while defending babyfather

A man who used a scissors to stab a woman repeatedly was fined $30,000 when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Friday.

Charged with unlawful wounding is Andre Livermore.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and offered the court an explanation.

Livermore said he was involved in an altercation with the complainant's babyfather when she and her daughter intervened.

"Your Honour, it was me and her babyfather, cause him a try fi show say him more serious than me. She came up from behind and started to hit me too. I saw the scissors in a flowers pot, and I just took it up and swing and she get stab."

The court was told the incident took place on January 3 and the complainant had received stab wounds to her hand and leg.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey fined the accused $30,000 or six months imprisonment.

A fingerprint order was also made against Livermore.
