Teen freed of assault charge

A teenager was able to breathe a sigh of relief after an assault matter against him was withdrawn in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday at the request of the complaint.

When the matter was called up, the accused, 19-year-old Jahmir Blackwood, pleaded guilty to using a dresser drawer to injure the fingers of the complainant.

The court was told the act was committed after the two had a dispute.

Blackwood told the court, "Your Honour, is accident. I never know her finger was there. She did a take out my clothes, and I didn't want her to take them out."

Senior Resident Magistrate asked the complainant what to do with the accused. She asserted that she did not want the matter to go any further.

No order was made in the matter and the accuse was allowed to go.

He was, however, warned by RM Pusey to cool himself.
