JUTC canteen manager held for fatal stabbing
A canteen manager, who reportedly stabbed his assistant to death at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) at Twickenham Park Depot in St Catherine yesterday, was arrested by the police and remains in custody.
The dead man has since been identified as Raymond McDonald.
Information reaching THE STAR is that the deceased was stabbed after an argument developed between him and another employee at about 9:55 a.m.
According to the Spanish Town police, during the altercation, another man, who is employed to JUTC, allegedly tried to quell the dispute and was also injured.
On arrival of the police, both McDonald and the injured man were taken to hospital, where McDonald was pronounced dead and the other man treated.
In a release sent to our news team, the JUTC sought to clarify earlier reports in the media that an employee of the state-owned bus company was killed.
The company said the men involved in the incident were part of the concessionaire team at the facility.
THE STAR also gathered that the accused was held by security personnel on the compound and handed over to the police.
He is to be questioned in the presence of his attorney.
