A man who stabbed his ex-girlfriend in the head pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court last Friday.

Kenolvae Powell was fined $25,000 or six months in prison for the offence.

The complaint told the court that Powell squeezed her neck and stabbed her in the head.

Powell told the court that on November 2, he had an argument with his ex-girlfriend, who was his girlfriend at the time, and she grabbed a knife from a table. He said that he then took out his knife from his pocket and hit her with it in her head.

He told the court that he apologised for what he did.

Parish Judge Chester Crooks told Powell to repay the woman for the time she took from work to nurse her injuries.
