Housekeeper on larceny charge has bail extended
A St James woman who is accused of stealing Christmas decorations and jewellery from her employer had her bail extended when she appeared before the St James Parish Court recently.
Patricia Parnell is charged with simple larceny, for which she entered a not-guilty plea through her attorney, Charles Sinclair.
The allegations are that Parnell was employed by the complainant as a housekeeper at a bed-and-breakfast resort.
On three occasions, between December 2017 and January 2018, the complainant noticed that several items were missing from the premises.
ADDITIONAL STATEMENT
Parnell's room was searched, and several of the items were found there. She was arrested and charged.
When the case was mentioned in court, it was revealed that the case file was not ready and that the prosecution needed to get an additional statement from the complainant.
Presiding parish judge Kacia Grant was also asked to set a mention date in order to allow for full disclosure of documents in the case to be made to Sinclair.
Grant set the matter for mention on April 30 and extended Parnell's bail to that date. The accused was also instructed to submit her fingerprints to the police.
