Multimillion-dollar infrastructure project for Canaan Heights

Job opportunities and improvement to the infrastructure are some of the benefits that Canaan Heights residents can look towards when a project aimed at improving the state of the community begins later this month.

The 10-month project will include the construction of a lift station, inclusive of pumps, and the installation of service laterals and fire hydrants.

Project manager Dale Colquhoun said that the project will, among other things, help to spruce up the Clarendon community.

"It's really beneficial in terms of short-term employment, and an improved infrastructure will let residents feel better about their community and even themselves. Canaan Heights is set to become a model community and the residents are really excited about this move," Colquhoun said.

The project is expected to cost more than $160 million. It will involve the rehabilitation and construction of approximately 1,100 metres of roadway; the construction of approximately 735 metres of concrete u-drains, and the installation of PVC sewer pipe lines.
