MoBay City Run to add new categories

April 09, 2019

Founder and chairman of the MoBay City Run organising committee, Janet Silvera, said that the organisers have added both child and wheeler sections for the sixth staging this year.

"We have added a kids' section to it and also a wheeler section. So people who are physically challenged can now enter our race. We are not keeping out anyone," Silvera said.

Silvera was speaking at the recent launch of the 2019 edition at Holiday Inn.

The 5k run/walk event, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 5, at the Old Hospital Park on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard, will start at 6 a.m.

For the past five years, the MoBay City Run has been a driver of hope impacting lives in western Jamaica through education.

It has donated some $20 million to bettering the lives of the nation's youth through health, fitness, and education.

"This year, we are doing five schools. We have added Northern Caribbean University (NCU) as a one-off to see, but our four core universities are The University of the West Indies (UWI) - West Jamaica Campus, Montego Bay Community College, the University of Technology - West Campus, and Sam Sharpe Teachers' College," she added.
