Glenmuir High School deputy head girl Christina Paula-Ann Blake, who was among the 12 recognised at the Governor General's Achievement Awards last Thursday at the Wembley Centre of Excellence, is looking forward to making her mark in the world.

Blake spends her free time volunteering as an academic mentor in Spanish in her Kennedy Grove community and paying regular visits to children's homes and the May Pen Infirmary.

She also volunteers with the Clarendon Parish Development Committee at back-to-school treats, camps and other activities.

Own foundation

Blake's passion for helping others has also seen her founding the Loving Heart Foundation, a small charity organisation aimed at youth empowerment in Clarendon.

Balancing her many projects and her studies is a breeze for Blake, who attained nine distinctions in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams and is the recipient of the Patrick Hylton Award for top performance in principles of business.

In the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE), Blake received four distinctions in Unit 1 Caribbean studies, law, management of business and Spanish. She was subsequently recognised as the top performer in CAPE in law and Spanish at her school.

Blake told the CENTRAL STAR, "The award means that I am an ambassador and agent of change in society, and it is the beginning of many good things to come in my life."

Mother an inspiration

She said the selfless acts of service by her mother, Pauline Henry-Blake, inspire her the most.

Blake, who considers herself a legal enthusiast and a blossoming entrepreneur, said she is widely read on legal literature and books pertaining to wealth creation/investing.

"I also like to watch law movies, and I am the founder of a small business named ExperTees that sells customised T-shirts," she said.

She said that her ultimate goal is to become the attorney general of Jamaica and a renowned entrepreneur.
