TWO YEARS OF PAIN - Mother’s world empty after son’s death
Lorna Godson has been in pain since her son, Jason Murphy, was murdered two years ago.
"It is like everything that I live for is gone. He was my only child, and he was my strength and hope for a better life. It is like I still picture him daily, but it is even more painful to know his life was cut short," Godson said.
Godson, otherwise call 'Bubbles', said that her life changed for the worse on August 18, the date of her son's murder.
She told THE STAR that her son was a security guard. She said that he was lured into the Time and Patience community, outside Linstead in St Catherine, where he was killed.
"I felt every shot that he got, although I wasn't there, and I have been constantly hurting since," said Godson, while adding that her world is now empty without her son.
"I have lost my house, I have suffered a stroke, and I am still getting medical treatment to deal with the hurt and sorrow. I am constantly reminded of him whenever I talk to others with children that age," Godson said with teary eyes.
"He was a good child. At 26-year-old he helped me financially, and each time he would tell me that he would make me proud. I would do anything to get him back but it's not possible, so I just need closure,"Godson said.
The St Catherine Major Investigation Division said that the matter of Murphy's murder is still the subject of an active investigation. The police are yet to charge anyone with his killing.
