Child dies in suspected drowning at hotel
The Trelawny police are investigating the death of a three-year-old Canadian girl who drowned in a pool at the Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle on Monday.
It is reported that around 1:45 p.m. the child was in the pool with her mother when the incident occurred. She was subsequently pronounced dead at the Falmouth Hospital. Riu Hotels & Resort, the parent company for the hotel, confirmed the incident, and expressed condolences to the affected family and stated that they are working closely with the police in their investigations.
"We would like to express our most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased child. From the very first moment, we have made ourselves available to offer them all the support they may need," said Jorge Satorre Mulet, area manager Europe, Caribbean, US and Canada, in a statement.
