“A true yuh nuh know how it hurt me. All a pregnant woman get shot, enuh. Mi see dem lift up the woman and har foot just hang dung. “These were the words of a Deanery Road resident, who could hardly contain his disbelief that brazen gunmen opened fire at persons in a doctor’s office yesterday.

He continued: “Mi feel it because all a likkle baby get shot. Di man just shoot up the people dem just suh.”

According to the Corporate Communications Unit,a lone gunman entered a medical facility around 10 a.m. and opened fire. When the shooting subsided, 42-year-old Clifton Brown of Jacques Avenue was dead and five others, including a pregnant woman and a child, were left with gunshots wounds. They were taken to the hospital where they are being treated.

Residents of the area say they are now fearful there may be reprisals for yesterday’s incident and that they could be caught in the crossfire if they are at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Another resident told THE STAR that it’s the families left behind that are affected by the lack of caution that thugs use when they go after someone.

“Once a man a move and them a shoot, other people a go get shot. Dem affi understand seh dem a leave people traumatised. The place (Vineyard Town) mash up again because of this,” the man said.

An obviously shocked woman lamented the rising crime rate, adding that nowhere is safe.

“The families a feel it because all the receptionist get shot and all she do is write down names and thing. Mi feel it to me heart man. Imagine people come a doctor and dem shoot dem. It look like yuh haffi just tek sick a yuh yard and dead deh so because nowhere nuh safe. Not even doctor nor church. The country mash right up. That nuh right.”
