Cops search for missing trio

April 24, 2020

A search to locate three Hanover men who are believed to have been shot to death yesterday had to be called off due to poor lighting.

Investigators say a fourth man who travelled with the trio has since been admitted to hospital in serious condition, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Reports by the Hanover police are that shortly after 1:30 p.m., the four men, who are believed to be from Lucea, travelled on two motorcycles to a section of March Town in Green Island, to purchase motorcycles.

Ambushed by gunmen

On reaching the community, they were directed by the alleged sellers, via cell phone, to meet them at a section of the community.

But, on reaching the location, the men were ambushed by gunmen and shot multiple times.

The man who is now in hospital managed to escape in nearby bushes. He ran to another section of the community, where he was assisted by a passing motorist to the Lucea Hospital.

The police were summoned and, upon arrival, were unable to locate the actual crime scene.

An investigation was carried out, and intelligence led them to a section of the area where the motorcycles were discovered abandoned, but there was still no sign of the men.

The police said they launched a search of the community but came up empty-handed and would be going back today.

This latest incident has taken place just a day after the body of a fisherman was found with gunshot wounds inside his home in Sandy Bay.

Reports by the police are that 43-year-old Delroy McKenzie, otherwise called 'Clive', of Mountpellier Road in Sandy Bay, Hanover, was last seen alive on Sunday afternoon.

Family members got suspicious, and on Tuesday morning, a relative found his bullet-riddled body lying in a pool of blood inside his house.

Police processed the scene and the body later removed to the morgue.
