Please, help me find my dad - Errol Kennedy’s disappearance has family worried
Rushelle Kennedy has always looked forward to spending Christmas with her father, Errol Kennedy. For her, Christmas is a time when family come together for food and in fun-filled atmosphere and reminiscing about the golden moments of the past, while giving thanks to God for his many blessings.
This year, however, celebration is the furthest thing from Rushelle's mind. No one has seen her 67-year-old father in 18 days, prompting fears that the family may have to brace for their worst Christmas ever.
"Normally, we would spend Christmas at my house. Last year I started cooking about 4 a.m. My mother, who is his wife, always comes home for Christmas because she lives in another Caribbean island, and we would have a good time. This morning (yesterday) I told my children that we won't be having any Christmas this year because we are broken. We cannot have a Christmas without knowing what happened to my dad," she said.
The elder Kennedy, otherwise called 'Mr Ken', of Washington Drive, Central Village, St Catherine, has been missing since Saturday, November 13. Reports from the Central Village police are that between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., Kennedy, who is 5 feet 7 inches tall, was seen in the Windsor Heights area. His mode of dress at the time he went missing is unknown.
"His neighbour said he was at her shop but he went home and said he was going to lay down and no one has seen him," Rushelle told THE STAR. "My daddy would call me every day but I didn't hear from him for two days. On the 16th [of November] I got a call from a nephew that they have not seen him, so I went by the house and when I got in I realised that his things were missing and he was not there. His bed, fridge, and other stuff is missing."
DEPRESSING SITUATION
Rushelle said that she and other family members have been experiencing sleepless nights since Kennedy's disappearance. The situation, she said, is depressing.
"It has been 18 days and if my dad don't call anyone, he is going to call me as I am his only child. This keep breaking me down because I keep calling his phone and I am not getting a response. If someone killed him, I am asking them just to let me get his body to bury him. I am trying to think positively, but sometimes I feel like he is alive and another time, I think he is dead," she said.
"If he is dead, I know his body may be decomposed, but I'm begging unno to just make mi get the decomposed body so I can bury him, please. Even if it's just a bone, we will bury it. Mi can't sleep, eat or drink. It is taking a toll on mi, so I'm begging them to just let me know what happened to my dad. He doesn't deserve this! He has lived in that community for 23 years and my father does not trouble people or mix," Rushelle added.
