Acting head of the St Andrew South Police Division, Superintendent Damion Manderson, is appealing to the public for information that could further the police's investigation into Sunday's double murder of two security guards on the compound of the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), in Plantation Heights, St Andrew.

Manderson made the appeal on Tuesday during a walk-through of the compound with other members of the division's leadership. He told THE STAR that the investigation is spearheaded by the Major Investigations Division (MID).

"As we are speaking, my crime officer and the MID team are locked in a case review. They are looking at where we are and what would have been collected, and the necessary doors for us to go and knock on to follow any leads at all. So in due course, you will get a fulsome and detailed update in that investigation. However, our appeal continues to members of the public who would have seen or heard anything between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday night, anything at all that you might have seen. We appeal to you to come forward," Manderson said.

The police reported that Brandon Small and Lincoln Royal were shot and killed when heavily armed men travelling in a grey motor car entered the compound through the front gate.

Royal's body was found in the trunk of a car with a gunshot wound to his head while Small's body was found metres away in nearby bushes.

Manderson also said that he and his men met with the supervisory team at CHEC compound to discuss ways to improve their security going forward.

"I think after our meetings they are even more enlightened and appreciative of the dynamics of the environment of which they operate, and we have made several recommendations to improve security for this complex and for the total operations. They have taken it on with great embrace and we are looking forward to seeing those improvements going forward both in terms of their security operations, and the police and Chinese both operating in this sphere," he added.

The incident occurred just weeks after another security breach on the complex, in which the police intervened. Two guards were reportedly relieved of their duties following that incident.

"We are in a review as we speak, and the investigators will be looking at everything. We will be seeking to look in every avenue to see if there is a correlation to solidify or otherwise. So we are not counting that out, they are all on the table at this time," he said.
