Those close to 79-year-old labourer Henry Hylton are praying for his safe return after the St Catherine senior citizen went missing late last week.

Hylton's son Kevin said that his father was last seen about 10 p.m. at his home in Westmore Gardens, Spanish Town.

"I was told that he attended work and was behaving strangely and they took him to the hospital. I remember going to see him on Thursday night and a gave him $1,000 and we were talking. He then started to behave as if he was talking to someone else loudly, but I managed to calm him down and eventually left," Kevin said.

"Him was the groundsman over Perry's Funeral Home and them treat him good and even took him to get the check-up [when he fell ill]. As he is old, they don't pressure him," he said.

Peter Perry, owner of the funeral home, said that the senior citizen is an asset to the business.

"I care about very much him as we spent $38,000 on him for a brain scan, which revealed early stage of dementia," Perry said. He said that they were just awaiting further treatment to ascertain how he would be medicated. The businessman said the senior citizen was taken home by the company's vehicle on Thursday.

Kevin said that having left his father's dwelling on Thursday after he had settled in, he promised to return the following day. But upon his arrival, his father was not there and after forcibly entering the house, he could not find him. Worried, Kevin said he questioned nearby persons about his father but received no positive response.

"I am praying that if he wandered away we can find him safe, as this is the first he behave this way," he said.

Kevin described his father as a caring dad who even at his advanced age still shows that paternal responsibility to his three children.

The Spanish Town police acknowledged that a missing person's report was made.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Henry Hylton is being asked to call the nearest police station, 119 or Perry's Funeral Home at 876-983-3753.
