There was drama outside the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday when two litigants, a landlady and her tenant clashed.

The incident, which unfolded along Adelaide Street in Spanish Town in broad daylight, was quelled after the intervention of the police and a bystander. Both women exited the court building following the ruling that one female must be paid rent and the other must vacate the premises.

"You are a wicked woman," blurted the tenant, who is younger of the two. The landlady told her to stop accusing her and live up to her obligations. The argument continued until it reached fever pitch and the tenant launched a physical attack. Both parties scuffled on the ground throwing blows with bystanders shouting "stop it, stop it".

The warring women were soon parted.

"Bwoy dem really a clash now after coming from court," a bystander said. The tenant, who said she owed three months' rent, accused the landlady of taking her to court and trying to video her. However, the landlady denied the allegations saying that since the tenant got notice to vacate her premises, she became aggressive.

Neither woman made any report to the police and were given a stern warning to keep the peace.
