A St James woman who admitted to throwing a drink into a customer's face at the fast-food outlet where she worked managed to get off with a stern warning when she appeared in the St James Parish Court on Wednesday.

Timesha Brown appeared before Parish Judge Sasha-Marie Ashley to answer to the charge of assault.

The court was told that on March 24, Brown was on duty collecting meal orders at her workplace in downtown Montego Bay when she got into an altercation with the complainant, who was a customer at the venue. During the quarrel, Brown took up a cup with drink and threw the content into the complainant's face.

"Did you do it?" Judge Ashley asked Brown, after the circumstances were outlined.

"Yes, Your Honour," Brown said while adding that "Nothing like this has ever happened before".

Asked by the judge why she threw the drink, Brown said the customer threatened her.

"She asked for her ticket number and threatened to 'jook' me in my eye, and she was prolonging the argument. Then she took the garbage receipt and threw it in my face, so I threw the juice on her, and she jumped over the counter and the police intervened, and then she pushed the officer and pushed my manager," Brown explained.

The complainant was not present to give her account of the event.

Judge Ashley admonished and discharged Brown of the charges. She also told her that it was important for her to keep her emotions in check.

"Before this, you had a clean record. When things get out of control, you either walk away or call your supervisor," the judge said.
