Residents in Washington Mews, a small community close to Westmeade Willows in Portmore, St Catherine, were on Saturday night jolted by the shocking news that a 15-year-old had allegedly stabbed his 19-year-old brother, which resulted in his death.

The dead teen has been identified as Norlando McDonald.

According to head of the St Catherine South Police Division, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, the bothers were arguing over a bucket.

"The information we have is that both brothers were at home when an argument developed between them over a bucket, I was told. The argument became physical during which the younger apparently ran into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, then he came back and used it to stab McDonald in the left and right side of his groin area."

McDonald was later rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Shaken by grief and almost unable to speak, the boys' mother declined to speak with the news team. Their stepfather told THE STAR that it was "prayers alone" that has been keeping them.

Phillips said he gathered that the community is a close-knit one and so they are "in shock and going through that grieving process now".

He continued, "The family, when I visited, they're not taking it well. We're talking about two members of the family - two brothers - one now deceased and one in police custody."
