Truck driver allegedly stabbed over ‘bad drive’
Prosecutors are expected to make an assessment of the charges against a wholesale worker, who stabbed a truck driver in a case of road rage.
Allegations shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday are that the accused, Daniel Morgan, was involved in an altercation with the complainant, a truck driver, casting blame about who 'bad drive''" the other.
Morgan, the court heard, allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the complainant all over his upper body. A tussle ensued between the men, and they fell to the ground, where Morgan allegedly stabbed the complainant in his leg.
The complainant indicated to parish judge Carlo Mason, through prosecutors, that while he is minded to attend mediation, he is seeking to be compensated in the sum of $500,000 due to the extent of his injuries.
"He will require therapy from the incident. He will have to change jobs as he was stabbed two inches away from his heart and he was admitted to the hospital," the prosecutor shared.
It was then that a startled Mason recommended that the investigator be subpoenaed to attend court, as well as the file be assessed, as the charges may have to be increased to wounding with intent based on the complainant's utterances.
Morgan, who is charged with unlawful wounding, was ordered by the judge to report to the police once weekly and not to interfere with the complainant. The matter was adjourned until February 15, 2024.
